The Tale of Desperaux on DVD

desperaux-dvdThe Tale of Desperaux arrives in stores tomorrow, the film is based on the book by Kate DiMillo.  Voiced by Matthew Broderick, Desperaux is a little mouse with big ambitions, which displease his mouse elders (they’d prefer him to scurry and cower). He’s banished from MouseWorld to the realm of the rats, where it’s assumed he’ll be eaten.

Instead, Desperaux finds himself in a place where the town Chef, Roscuro (Dustin Hoffman), has accidentally killed the Queen, caused the imprisonment of the Princess (Emma Watson), and, worst of all, the banning of Soup Day (no small deal) and the end of soup itself! Roscuro and Despereaux join forces, inadvertently helped out by a homely but soft-hearted farm girl named Miggery Sow (Tracey Ullman), and, well, you can imagine how it all turns out.

I asked Ryan, my 12 year old son, for his opinion. He said:

It was a cute movie, I liked the storyline. Although I thought the guy made out of fruit was creepy.  It’s appropriate for all ages. His favorite scene- the big fight scene in Rat World.

The Tale of Desperaux arrives in stores tomorrow on both DVD and Blu-Ray. It’s $16.99 at Amazon so I’d assume retail price will be about the same. This is a great movie to watch with your whole family!
